Kendal Town target Connor Shields has signed for Northern League rivals West Auckland.
Shields had scored 17 goals last season for Penrith and went on trial to Kendal, scoring two goals in their first friendly win – a big 9-1 victory at Caton on Saturday.
However, he subsequently had talks with West Auckland and agreed a deal to sign for a club who are expected to be among the front runners for Division One honours in the Northern League.
His 17 goals last season put him sixth in the list of Division One goal-scorers. Team-mate Luke Hunter had scored 18 for Penrith before he joined FC Fylde in November.
