
Firefighters paid residents at visit at a West Cumbrian care home.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue crew members visited Newlands Care Home to chat with residents about the work they do to keep communities safe.
There was plenty of excitement for residents and everyone had a chance to have a go with the fire hose.
After all the action, residents and staff gathered for a chat filled with stories, jokes, riddles, and lots of laughter.
Kim Whelan, general manager of Newlands Care Centre has extended the invitation throughout the local area.
She said: “To say thank you for all of the great work our emergency services do for us, we here at Newlands Care Centre are inviting all members of the police, ambulance and fire services to pop in and take their duty break on us for free.
“We are pleased to offer all of our local service workers who stop in tea, coffee, juice, chilled water, delicious homemade cake and biscuits and a healthy selection of fruit, available free of charge.
“Our comfortable facilities include free Wi-Fi and service with a smile; do stop in and say hi, we would be delighted to see you!”
Head of Activities, Hlah Nyoni said: “It is wonderful to see our local firefighters taking the time to visit our residents, spending quality time with them and joining in activities.
“Their kindness, enthusiasm and community spirit brought so much joy to everyone, and we are incredibly grateful for their visit.”
