A Lake District school is celebrating a year of sixth form success.
Windermere School said its students had achieved a 100% pass rate in both the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme.
The results build on last year’s recognition as one of the top 2% of sixth forms nationally in the Sunday Times Parent Power 2026 league tables.
Windermere School said: “As a non-selective sixth form, the school is committed to ensuring every student follows the pathway best suited to their strengths and aspirations, with these outcomes reflecting the success of the school’s personalised sixth form provision.”
This year, the school’s IB Diploma Programme students achieved an average score of 33.5 points, almost three points above the global average.
Forty per cent of Diploma students achieved 34 points or more, with one student gaining 40 points, a result widely recognised as comparable to four A* grades at A level.
The school said it had also recorded its strongest ever IB Core performance, with an average Core score of 2.1 points.
A distinctive feature of the IB, the Core develops the critical thinking, research, communication and leadership skills that are highly valued by universities and employers worldwide.
International achievement was also reflected in the award of both the Bilingual Diploma and Bilingual Career-related Programme qualification, underlining the global outlook of the School and the value of the IB for internationally minded learners.
The IB Career-related Programme and vocational pathway also celebrated an outstanding year. In BTEC Business, four of six candidates achieved Distinction Merit or above, with two securing Distinction, broadly equivalent to AA at A-level.
In the first year of the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Outdoors), three candidates achieved the highest available grade of Distinction.
