Cumbrian firefighters are working hard to help tackle a major wildfire in Derbyshire.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said specially-trained crews have been supporting Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service with its response to the ongoing major wildfire incident at Tintwistle Moor.
Firefighters from stations including Appleby, Keswick, Millom, Sedbergh and Ulverston, with nationally-recognised skills and experience in responding to wildfires, have joined the efforts.
Cumbria has also made a specialist vehicle, the Unimog, available to support the response.
The Unimog is a 4×4 vehicle specifically used to help tackle wildfires, as it has off-road capability to reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
The county’s support was requested via National Resilience, which enhances the ability of the sector to respond to large-scale incidents by mobilising specialist resources from around the UK.
A spokesman for the service said: “We are proud of our firefighters who have travelled for their ongoing efforts to support another service to bring this event to a safe conclusion.”
