A running festival is set to bring four races to a West Cumbrian town.
The Festival of Running will take place in Workington on Sunday August 2 and people of all ages and abilities can get involved.
Organisers Everyone Here and Workington Town Council said the event aimed to create a welcoming community atmosphere where people could come together to take part, support friends and family, and experience everything the day had to offer.
The programme includes a half marathon, a 10k, a 5k and a free 1k fun run, offering something for experienced runners, first-time racers, younger participants and families.
A key part of the festival’s development has been its partnership with Cumberland Athletic Club.
Organisers said the club’s involvement was helping ensure the event provided a safe, enjoyable and professionally delivered experience for runners, while creating an inclusive event that encouraged people to get active.
Runners will also be offered free massages, with free food vouchers available for everyone taking part in the half marathon and 10k.
The festival will also offer free family entertainment and activities.
The event is part of a wider programme of community events and cultural activity being delivered across the town by Everyone Here and Workington Town Council.
Organisers said they were also keen to welcome visitors from further afield and were working with local accommodation providers to make it easier for runners and their supporters to turn the event into a West Cumbrian getaway.
Visitors travelling to the festival can take advantage of a 15 per cent accommodation discount at Washington Central Hotel or Sleepwell Inn in Workington.
The half marathon will start at Hall Park at 9.30am and entry is £24. The 10k will begin at the Black Path near Borough Park at noon, costing £14, followed by the 5k at the same location at 1.30pm for £8. The free 1k fun run will start at Workington Cricket Ground at 2.30pm.
Registration will be open from 8am to 2pm at Workington Cricket Club.
