[A] Carlisle woman has appeared at the city’s magistrates’ court accused that she produced false receipts in order to steal £5,631 from the Forces Support Charity between March17 and April10 last year,
During the short hearing the charity shop worker, Judith Thom, 40, of Pennine Way, Harraby, Carlisle pleaded not guilty to the allegation of theft by employee.
Magistrates ruled that the case was not suitable for summary trial.
The court was told Thom held a position of trust at the Carlisle store, she was granted bail, and will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on May 26.
