[P]olice are investigating a dog bite incident where a 15-year-old boy from Carlisle was cycling to school along the cycle path from Cummersdale to Dalston.

The incident occurred on 25th April at approximately 8.20am. The young male sustained an injury to the lower portion of his left leg after being bitten by a dog described as a black and white collie wearing a red collar. The male in charge of the dog at the time is described as being a white male, approximately 60-70 years old, medium build, approximately 5ft 7 inches, with grey hair and balding on the top. Described as wearing a blue fleece, jeans and glasses.

Police are appealing for this male to make contact with Police or for any witnesses to come forward. It is believed there was a couple in the area at the time walking a number of Dalmatian dogs that witnessed the incident and would ask them to make contact with Police.

Anyone with information should call PC 2526 Lucy Hesketh on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
