[T]he Cumberland Group held their 1st Annual Cumberland Charity Karting Challenge on 11th May at West Coast Karting in Maryport.

The teams that took part included staff from Borderway Finance, Armstrong Watson, Dodd & Co, Bendles, Burnetts, Investec and Cartmell Sheperd as well as a Cumberland Building Society Business Team.

Each team was asked to make a donation to enter the competition with the winnings going to a charity of the victor’s choice.

The team from Armstrong Watson took the trophy and chose Carlisle Eden Mind as the beneficiary of the £400 donation.

Harry Leighton of Armstrong Watson said ‘The competition was held during Mental Health Awareness Week and we felt it only right that the money went to supporting people in our local community.’

Caroline Robinson, Community Engagement Officer for Carlisle Eden Mind said ‘We were delighted at the news that Carlisle Eden Mind has been chosen by the team from Armstrong Watson to receive such a generous donation. The money they have donated will go directly to supporting people with mental health problems in the Carlisle and Eden districts.’

If anyone is inspired by this story to take on a challenge of their own, Carlisle Eden Mind has places available for the Great North Swim 2017. For more information and to book your place contact Caroline Robinson: [email protected]
