[H]ospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland invites the community to join them for a Penrith Moonlight Walk in our special 20th Anniversary Year.

This fundraising event will take place from Penrith Leisure Centre, Southend Road, CA11 8JH on Saturday 16th September. Registration will begin at 8.15pm and a warm up kindly provided by Karen Rathbone Fitness Instructor will take place just prior to the Walk. The challenge is open to women, men and also young people over 11-years old who wish to walk with an accompanying adult. Dogs on leads are also welcome. This is the perfect occasion to spend time with family, friends and work colleagues and perhaps remember a loved one.

The Hospice at Home Team can assure that a wonderful evening will be enjoyed and that every step walked and every penny raised will be making a difference to future patients, families and carers.

Those taking part are encouraged to come along to the event in fancy dress (however please note this is optional). As part of the charity’s 20th Anniversary Celebrations, they encourage participants to dress up as something beginning with H for Hospice at Home, The Charity are sure the participants will have lots of ideas Hawaiians, hippies, hot dogs, the list is endless or simply wear a hat or headband! The aim is not only to raise vital funds but also have lots of FUN!!!!

Entry for this event is £10 per person and will include glow sticks, a special Moonlight Walk T-shirt, refreshments en route kindly donated by Greggs and a well-deserved bacon buttie at the finish. Each adult participant is kindly encouraged to raise or donate £30 to enable Hospice at Home to continue providing this vital service. Bridget McDonald Charity Fundraiser said: “Grab your family, friends and work colleagues as we are delighted to announce that entries are now open for our third Moonlight Walk! The event is very well supported by the local community and we are very appreciative of this generosity. The wonderful sum of over £21,000 was raised at the two previous Moonlight Walks which provided many hours of care for local patients and their families and we are hoping to increase this amount this year which will enable us to continue providing this vital end of life nursing care in patients own homes.”

The Charity would also welcome any local business or organisation who would like to help sponsor this special Penrith Fundraising Event ensuring further funds can be raised to provide additional hours of nursing care, please contact Julie Blundell 01768 210719 if you can help.
