Travelling through time with Whitehaven’s historic railways

[A]N EXPLORATION into the rise and fall of railways in Whitehaven is on offer at The Beacon Museum on Saturday (August 19).

Peter Rooke, Owner of West Cumberland Railway Museum in St Bees, will be delivering the historic talk which paints a picture of the life and industry that sprung up around the railways.

The 2pm session is set to provide a fascinating insight into how the local landscape and means of travel evolved over the years.

The talk is part of a series of summer sessions at the museum which offers locals and tourists the chance to delve into the areas rich history.
