[E]XCITING new career opportunities are on offer at Copeland Borough Council with six modern apprenticeships up for grabs.

In collaboration with Lakes College, the council is offering employment and training in the following areas; ICT, Accountancy, Customer Services, Human Resources and Revenues and Benefits.

The council is seeking individuals who are keen to learn, want to work hard, are passionate about public services and have a professional attitude to work.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, is urging everyone to consider applying. He said: “Copeland Council is an exciting and rewarding place to work, offering a whole host of career opportunities, and I’d encourage everyone to consider joining our team.”

Councillor David Moore, Portfolio Holder for Human Resources, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to kick start their careers in a forward thinking, dynamic organisation.”

Five long serving staff members have shared their experience of working at the Council.

Janice Carrol, Waste and Enforcement Manager, who has been with the Council for over 27 years, said: “The organisation has been really supportive in developing me as an individual. Over the years I’ve grown from a shy admin assistant into a confident manager.”

Les Finlay, Building Control Surveyor who is spending his 29th year at the Council, said: “Copeland is a great place to work and the proof really is in the pudding – I’m still here.”

Lizzie Skelton, Project Officer who has over 10 years’ service, said: “I’ve worked at Copeland for a long time now and I don’t think I’ll ever leave.”

Louise Coid, Emergency Planning/Community Safety Officer has been with the Council for 24 years, said: “Copeland have really supported my career, funding all my training and encouraging me to progress.”

Joanne Fisher, Principal Waste Officer, joined the Council over 16 years ago, she said: “There’s a real sense of family in the team and no two days are the same.”

Application forms are available at www.copeland.gov.uk, by contacting Copeland Direct on 01946 598 300 or by emailing [email protected].

The closing date for applications is Friday, September 8 and interviews will be held on October 6. Each programme will start in October 2017 and will run to March 2019.
