[A] Carlisle man with 8-previous drink-driving offences, appeared in court from police custody and pleaded guilty to a further two offences of drink-driving.
Richard Aaron Rogers, 37, gave an address to Carlisle Magistrates Court as Fusehill Street, Carlisle, the court heard that on June 29 he drove a Renault Laguna car on Castle Drive in Penrith, he was found to be over the limit and was arrested, at the police station a blood sample was taken from Mr Rogers with a reading of 147 milligram’s of alcohol in 100ml of blood, the legal limit is 80mg.
Then on August 30, this time he was driving a Ford Mondea car on Skirsgill roundabout in Penrith, again stopped by police officers and he undertook a roadside breathalyser test, which proved positive and he was again arrested, this time a breathalyser test taken at the police station showed he had 76mcrg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, over twice the legal limit of 35.
District Judge Gerald Chalk was told Rogers was also in breach of a Crown Court suspended prison sentence, and he was now in breach of that order, the judge ordered an interim driving ban, this now makes a total of 10 drink-driving offences Rogers was remanded to prison to appear for sentencing at Carlisle Crown Court on September 29.
