[A]t 12:41pm today, Monday 4 September firefighters were called to a gas leak on Sandside Road, Arnside.
One crew from Milnthorpe and one from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have attended the incident which is ongoing.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews are currently using a ground monitor to suppress the gas cloud.
“All properties within 200m of the incident have been evacuated and the railway line has been closed.”
Sandside Road is closed both ways between Nuns Avenue and Black Dyke Road.
