[T]he North West office of award-winning housebuilder, Story Homes, has committed to supporting three community groups which applied for funding in the first quarter of its ‘Future Story’ scheme.

This is a company-wide scheme designed to support sponsorship or donation requests from charities and community organisations that surround Story Homes’ developments in  the North West, North East, Cumbria and South Scotland.

The award winning housebuilder accepts applications via its website all year round, with a regional committee reviewing submissions on a quarterly basis.

In Cumbria – Kendal Hockey Club and in Lancashire – Kirkham Football Club and Storeys of Lancaster Football Club have all been selected by Story Homes to receive a financial contribution.

Projects that the developer will support this quarter include the contribution towards kits for these teams including both junior and senior teams.

Director of land and planning North West, David O’Reilly, commented: “The homes we build are part of wider communities, so helping communities and groups that neighbour our developments is extremely important to us. We try to support in ways that add long term value, and we are proud of our track record in this regard and our role in building sustainable communities.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer our support and sponsor the full team at Kendal Hockey Club. The team are an integral part of the community and hopefully this support will help the team go from strength to strength. We’re looking forward to supporting Kirkham football club and Storeys of Lancaster football club as well this year.

“We are expanding our presence in South Cumbria and the North West and are dedicated to reaching out to the local community and supporting local clubs and organisations. We look forward to seeing how the teams progress, and to supporting even more charities and community groups during the rest of the year.”

Kendal Hockey Club is made up of five senior teams and a large junior section which covers the U14, U12 and U10 age range. The club plays in competitive leagues across the North of England with the Ladies first team having previously competed at national level in the Investec League. Some of the players also represent Cumbria at county level. The club has a strong junior section and has close links to local schools which is enabling the club to grow their junior teams year on year.

The Chairman of Kendal Hockey Club, Nick Davis said: “Kendal Hockey Club is going through a fantastic period of growth at the moment. 2017 has been an exciting period for us, as the two previously separate clubs – Kendal Ladies Hockey Club and Kendal Mens Hockey Club have finally amalgamated into one, thus becoming Kendal Hockey Club.

“Membership numbers are on the rise and with it a fantastic team of volunteers are in place to help manage this. In addition to our volunteers we have also been lucky enough to partner with housebuilder Story Homes who have provided us with financial support for the 2017/18 season and onwards.

“As with most sports these days the playing kit can be expensive and thanks to our partnership we have been able to provide kit and other essential items for the whole club, from juniors through to adult players. We can’t thank Story Homes enough and look forward to show casing our new sponsorship deal soon.”

Story Homes is now inviting charities and community groups to apply for support in the next quarter. Applications for sponsorship, donations or raffle prizes should be made by completing the form at storyhomes.co.uk/sustainable-story.
