Councillor Peter Tyson presents his donation to Carol Robertson, from Hospice at Home West Cumbria

[A] SIZEABLE donation has been made to a local charity following a year of fundraising from Copeland Council’s former Chairman.

Peter Tyson presented a cheque for £3,170 to Hospice at Home West Cumbria on Tuesday; the proceeds from his fundraising activities during his term as Chairman which ended in May.

Coun Tyson said he was “proud” to have raised such a significant amount, adding: “It is a charity that’s very close to my heart”.

Carol Robertson, from Hospice’s fundraising team, received the donation from Coun Tyson at Tuesday’s Full Council meeting.

She said: “This will make a huge difference to Hospice at Home West Cumbria and will allow us to continue to give those suffering from life-limiting illness the care they need.

“This year is our 30th anniversary and we wouldn’t have got this far without the support of people like Peter, and from the Copeland community.”
