Man seriously injured in Carlisle attack

[P]olice are investigating an allegation of assault where a 47-year-old man has received a broken jaw as a result of the incident.

The incident took place just before 4pm on Thursday 21st September on Orton Road, Carlisle, close to the bus stop prior the junction with Hutton Way.

The incident involved two men. An woman was also present during the incident but not believed to be involved.

A 43-year-old man from Carlisle was arrested in suspicion of assault and remains in custody.

Orton Road was busy at the time of the assault and there were a number of people stood at the bus stop as well as two vehicles allegedly stopping to assist the victim. Police would like to hear from those that witnessed the assault.
