[S]tudents studying A Level Biology at Barrow Sixth Form College have launched a radio feature, ‘The Biology Breakdown’, to mark Biology Week 2017.

Four students, led by Jacob McSweeney, have written their first feature about the biology of hair. This feature will be broadcast on CandoFM four times each day during Biology Week, which runs from 7th – 15th October.

Jacob, Sofia Tentativa, Emily MacDonald and Esther Dodd have scripted a conversation in a hairdressers’ salon to bust some myths and explain interesting facts about hair.

Helen Rastelli, Subject Leader of Biology at Barrow Sixth Form College, said: “As Biologists, we want to communicate our enthusiasm and curiosity about the living world.

“I am really proud of this group of students and the initiative they have shown in setting up this project.”

‘The Biology Breakdown’ will be an occasional feature on CandoFM to explain Biology in everyday life to a non-specialist audience.

Listeners can tune in to CandoFM at 106.3 FM or listen online at https://candofm.co.uk/

‘The Biology Breakdown’ will be broadcast in four slots between 9am and 10am, 12pm and 1pm, 2pm and 3pm and 5pm and 6pm.
