Happy volunteers at Grasmere Fell Care Day Sept 2017

[A] mass-volunteering conservation event will take place in the Western Lake District on Wednesday 8th November. Friends of the Lake District are calling for volunteers of all ages and abilities to join their Eskdale Fell Care Day to help protect and enhance this beautiful part of the National Park.

Ruth Kirk, Fell Care Project Officer said: “Our Fell Care Days have recently been shortlisted for the Campaign for National Parks 2017 Park Protector Award. This is testament to the enthusiasm and commitment of so many volunteers who have taken part over the last 7 years.

“Eskdale Fell Care Day is our last one for this year and we’d love to see both old and new faces joining us for a wonderful day out full of camaraderie, a sense of achievement and the legendary Friend’s cake!”

Volunteers can choose from a wide range of tasks including: bridge building, woodland work, rhododendron bashing, Fix the Fells upland path maintenance, ground maintenance at Boot Corn Mill, scrub control at Boot old railway & incline historic site, hedge laying, Girder Bridge path maintenance, tree planting and a litter pick and Fix the Fells survey.

Tasks will be led by staff and volunteers from Friends of the Lake District, National Trust, Lake District National Park and Fix the Fells.

Booking onto activities is essential and can done by visiting www.friendsofthelakedistrict.org.uk or by contacting [email protected]
