[T]he Kitchen Rivals charity banquet is back and plans to raise thousands for three local charities; Blood Bikes Cumbria, Great North Air Ambulance and Cumbria Community Foundation.

Back in January 2016, Lake District Hotels Ltd, a group of 7 family owned and run hotels, partnered up with Cumbrian business law firm Baines Wilson LLP and Barclays to take up the knife and fork challenge in ‘Kitchen Rivals,’ a black-tie event at the Lodore Falls Hotel, raising £13,305 for their chosen charities.

This year, the three companies have teamed up once again to invite 90 VIP guests to join them at the Inn on the Lake, in the pretty village of Glenridding on Thursday 16 November 2017. Throughout the evening, teams of eight from Baines Wilson and Barclays will be in the kitchen and front of house, under the supervision of the Inn on the Lake’s expert chefs and front of house staff, to ensure that all guests have an enjoyable experience with the best food and service.

The competition is so high this year, as Baines Wilson were crowned the winners back in 2016, it will be interesting to see they can hold on to their title, or if Barclays will claim victory. The decision will be down to the guests, who will judge the two teams via a live stream from the kitchen and from the quality of the food and service that they receive on the night, paying for what they feel the evening is worth. There will also be a raffle and auction, all monies raised will be split three ways between the three chosen charities.

Joanne Holborn, Employment Partner at Baines Wilson LLP said: “This year our Commercial Property team will be in the kitchen and I will be leading the front of house team. It’s good to be taken out of our comfort zones to raise money for such great causes and I’m sure the guests will be entertained as well as receiving great food and service.”

Gary Wilson, General Manager of Inn on the Lake commented “The Inn on the Lake is the perfect venue to host such a fabulous event, a huge amount of preparation goes in to making sure it is a success, and we are all looking forward to a fantastic evening, raising money for three well deserving causes.”

Joyce Seaborn, Area Business Manager in Cumbria and North Lancashire added “Following last year’s fabulous event, Barclays are thrilled to be taking part in The Re-match. With a refreshed team from all areas of the bank including Business, Corporate and Retail, we are back with plenty of fighting spirit to win back the trophy, as well as raising as much money as possible for three fantastic charities. Let the challenge begin!”

Prizes for the raffle and auction have been generously donated by from local Cumbrian businesses: Ullswater Steamers, Lloyd Motor Group, Brimstone Hotel, Jason Chambers Photography, Graythwaite Estate, M-Sport, Manchester United, The Necessary Angel, Eddie Stobbart, Sealy, the Inn on the Lake, The Back Bar, Alliance, The Lakes Distillery, Pioneer Food Services, Lake District Paddleboarding, Honister Slate Mine, Cyclewise, Evergreens Florist, EWGA, Live for Today, Rheged, Whinlatter, Askham Hall, 11 Degrees, The Theatre by the Lake, Windermere Lake Cruises, Treetop Trek, Eden Brewery, The Fizzy Tarte, Living North, Jennings Brewery, John Richardson and Son.
