[A] Carlisle man has been charged with a number of serious offences.

Alistair Pape, aged 34, of Ellesmere Way, Carlisle, has been charged with assault GBH, possession of Class A drugs (heroin), theft and burglary.

The burglary and drugs possession relates to the theft of a quad bike from the Rosgill area that occurred on Sunday 5th November.

The assault occurred on 11th October at Highfield Avenue, Carlisle. The victim was a 39-year-old man.

Pape will appear before North Cumbria Magistrates’ Court today (9th November).

Police would like to take this opportunity to appeal to the farming community to be vigilant as there has been an increase in the theft of quad bikes. Farmers are urged to take all reasonable measures to secure their property and report suspicious activity.

Police are also asking the public to be vigilant and report sightings of quadbikes that may appear out of place by their location, time of day or who is riding them. This is after the recovery of two stolen quadbikes from a lock up garage in the Stonegarth, Carlisle area on Tuesday. The loss of these vehicles seriously disrupts local farming and business.
