A couple called for help after becoming lost in the dark on a Lake District path.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said they were called to the Taylorgill Force path below Sty Head Tarn on Monday July 20 at around 10.45pm.
A small team approached from Seathwaite and located the pair below Taylor Gill Force.
It was not possible for rescuers to descend directly to the couple, so the team continued up until a steep scree descent was possible.
The pair were uninjured but tired after setting off at 5am from Stonethwaite and walking over Bessyboot, Glaramara and Allen Crags before ascending Scafell Pike and descending to Sty Head Tarn.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team said: “As the climb on steep scree up to the main path was too dangerous, it was decided to continue down the stream, forcing a route through head-high bracken and crossing the stream numerous times, until it was possible to escape back onto the main path.
“The grateful pair were then driven back to their hotel in Borrowdale – a truly memorable 20-hour day out!”
