
Tall ship the Nao Santa María will sail into Barrow next month.
It is a replica of the ship that Christopher Columbus sailed to the Americas in 1492.
It is due to arrive in Whitehaven this week and people are able to explore the ship’s interior, discover life on board in the 15th century and learn more about Christopher Columbus’ voyage.
Built in around 2018 by Spanish shipwrights using traditional 15th century methods, the ship is a floating museum managed by the Fundacion Nao Victora.
It has been announced today that it is due to sail into Barrow next month and will be open to visitors from August 27 to August 31 from 10am to 8pm.
