Reece Tarr

[A] Barrow man who threatened to stab and kill an elderly man if he did not give him cash has been sent to prison.

Reece Tarr, 21, of no fixed abode, was sentenced  to two years and ten months behind bars at Preston Crown Court yesterday (November 21st) after pleading guilty to attempted armed robbery at a previous hearing.

Tarr carried out the offence at Easy Clean Laundrette on Anchor Road, on October 13th of this year.

He entered the premises, pulled out a knife, and demanded £10 from a 70-year-old man.

Fortunately Police were in close proximity to the crime scene and Tarr was arrested within minutes and the knife located.

The victim was unharmed.

DC Thomas Breakell said: “Thankfully the victim wasn’t physically hurt in this incident, but the cowardly act obviously left him distressed.

“Tarr has no excuse for his actions, and I am pleased that he has been removed from the streets of Barrow and punished for his crime.”
