[F]ollowing on from the success of the 2017 Keswick Live Advent Calendar, Keswick Tourism Association announced that the winner of the Best Advent Window was West Cumbria Rivers Trust who worked with the children of St. Herbert’s school and United Utilities on the design.

After the final window was lit on December 24th, members of the public were able to view all 24 by following the window trail or by visiting the Live Advent page on visitkeswick.com and then vote for their favourite. 105 people cast their votes, with West Cumbria Rivers Trust being the favourite, but only just.

Vanessa Metcalfe, Tourism Manager for Keswick Tourism Association, who organise the Keswick Live Advent Calendar, explained “Just a few days before we closed the voting The Soap Co. and West Cumbria Rivers Trust were in joint lead but there was a late surge of votes which saw Podgy Paws in the running for the top spot. In the end there was only one vote in it.”

Jodie Mills, Director, West Cumbria Rivers Trust said “We’ve had a great time being part of Keswick Live Advent and I hope everyone who saw our window enjoyed it as much as we did. It was a really great partnership project with United Utilities providing a session with their designers Fuzzy Duck at St Herbert’s school and along with our Education Officer they produced some great artwork for the window transfers. For our window opening on the 6th December we also had St Herbert’s choir singing carols and rivery songs, so we got to involve the school and their talents twice.”

Although we are only in January, 5 businesses have already chosen dates for their 2018 Live Advent window. Keswick Live Advent is open to all businesses, whether they are members of Keswick Tourism Association or not. For further information about how to get involved you should contact Vanessa Metcalfe ([email protected]).
