[A]t around 12.15pm on Tuesday, February 6th police were contacted to report the body of a man had been found in the River Ribble at Maritime Way, Ashton on Ribble, Preston.
The body has now sadly been confirmed as that of Michael Brooks, 19, who went missing from Avenham Park on January 14th.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “A post mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death but at this time it is not being treated as suspicious and there is nothing to suggest this is anything other than tragic circumstances.
“Since he went missing police and partner agencies have carried out thorough searches and a full investigation into the circumstances. Specially trained officers are supporting Mr Brooks’ family at this time. They were out looking for Michael when the body was found.
“Our thoughts remain with Michael’s family and friends at this sad time.”
