[P]eople in Carlisle can pop along to a free event, next Saturday 17 March to grab a household freebie and give away any unwanted items. It’s like a jumble sale but everything is free!
The Give and Take day will take place at Botcherby Community Centre, Victoria Rd, Carlisle between 10.30am and 1.30pm. Anyone can come along and pick up any item for free. It’s also an opportunity for householders to give away items they no longer need. You don’t even need to bring something to donate in order to pick up a freebie.
Cumbria County Council’s Waste Prevention team is working with Botcherby Community Centre to bring this event to Carlisle after holding a number of these very popular events in other areas of the county.
Judith Bradshaw, Waste Prevention Officer at Cumbria County Council said: “These events are a great way to save loads of useful items ending up at a waste treatment centre – what one person doesn’t need anymore can be just what someone else is looking for!”
Helen Fisher, Botcherby Community Centre Manager said, “We’re delighted to be hosting the event and hope that it will be of great benefit and use to the local community – reuse today for a better tomorrow!”
Anything leftover will be donated to local charity shops.
