[C]umbria County Council’s Apprenticeship Team is hosting events in Penrith and Whitehaven next week for people who are looking to get on the career ladder.

Penrith

  • Monday 19 March 3.30pm – 5.30pm, Penrith Leisure Centre, CA11 8JH

Whitehaven

  • Tuesday 20 March 3.30pm – 5.30pm, Whitehaven Library, CA28 7QT

Throughout March the county council will be recruiting to more than 70 apprenticeship opportunities across a range of service areas including engineering, fire and rescue, social care, project management and many more.

Cllr Janet Willis, Cabinet Member for Customers, Transformation and Fire and Rescue, said: “The council is committed to apprenticeships and is making a big effort to develop our offer, over the next year we’ll be recruiting to well over 100 apprenticeship roles.

“Many people don’t realise how big an organisation we are and the huge range of what we do – from business administration to road building to fire and rescue.

“An apprenticeship with us provides one of the best possible starts to a career, indeed in the last five years over 93% of our apprentices have secured a permanent job or progressed further to higher education. I’d urge anyone thinking about their future to look at the apprenticeships we’ll have available.”
