
[T]he A7 has reopened after a serious two-vehicle road traffic collision occurred between Carlisle and Longtown.
Police were called at approx 9:25am.
The collision involved a Mini car and a lorry.
The male driver of the Mini sustained serious injuries and had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 9:29am firefighters were called to a collision involving a wagon and a Mini on the A7 in Longtown.
“Firefighters used cutting equipment and small tools to free the casualty.”
The road was closed in both directions but has now reopened.
