
A woman in her 70s is seriously injured after a collision in a Carlisle supermarket car park.
The incident happened at the Sainsbury’s store car park on Church Street at around 3.30pm yesterday, Saturday June 20.
It involved a blue Nissan Note and the woman, who was a pedestrian.
Police said she was seriously injured and required hospital treatment.
The driver of the car, a 34-year-old woman from Carlisle, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
She has subsequently been released on bail while police investigations continue.
Officers encourage anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, or anyone who has dashcam which may help – or anyone else who can help – to come forward.
