[A]n elderly man has been left in hospital following a collision in Gorton.

Shortly after 4.10pm on Saturday 10 March 2018, police were called to Chatsworth Road to reports that a car had collided with a man.

A 77-year-old man had been in his home when he saw a silver Kia Venga collide with his Chevrolet Kalos which was parked in a disabled space.

The man went outside to ask the driver to stop, but instead he reversed in to a second parked car before driving at the man and lifting him on to his car.

The driver then sped along the road while the victim hung off the bonnet and as the man fell to the road, the driver continued in the direction of Sunnybrow Road.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police have released CCTV footage of the incident and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Jason Bell, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “This was an appalling incident and I find it completely disgusting that the offender sped off, leaving the man lay in the road.

“He showed no regard for the safety of the victim who had simply asked the man to stop after hitting his car.

“Not only did the driver fail to stop after a collision, but he seriously endangered the life of a man with his reckless actions.

“If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please get in touch so we can find the man responsible.”

Anyone with any information should call GMP on 0161 856 1146, quoting incident number 1535 of 10/03/18, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
