[A] WHITEHAVEN man who made a string of late-night nuisance phone calls to his ex-girlfriend has been sentenced by a judge.
Jordan Ian McCormick, 24, was made subject to a restraining order in December for a stalking offence. This prohibited any contact with a woman he split from a month earlier after a three-year relationship.
But in the early hours of January 20, McCormick made a number of phone calls to the woman, who noted he sounded drunk and his speech was “slurred”.
McCormick later told police he had been “heavily” drinking strong lager. He was said to have been “clearly suffering emotionally” at the time. He admitted flouting the restraining order and was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today (THURS).
Recorder Neville Biddle imposed a 12-month community order and ordered McCormick, of Roper Street, Whitehaven, to complete a rehabilitation activity requirement. The restraining order will continue to run until June, 2019.
