[A] Lake District lawyer has returned to Cumbria after five years in the Far East.
Solicitor Caroline Redhead, who lives near Witherslack, was a partner at Burnetts when she moved with her family to live in Hong Kong in 2013. Five years later, she has returned to her role within the firm’s Corporate team.
During her original time at Burnetts, Caroline focussed on commercial law, as well as governance issues and information law within the education and charity sectors including spending several months on secondment to one of the firm’s University clients and advising on Cumbria’s first Academy conversion.
She returns to Burnetts with a focus on data protection (including the latest General Data Protection Regulation) and on commercial and governance issues in the education and charity sectors as well as academy trust formations.
Speaking about her return, Caroline said “It is fantastic to be back at Burnetts. The firm has grown and evolved while I have been away, but we have maintained strong links throughout my time overseas so I feel the transition back into Burnetts has been very smooth. Burnetts’ education sector client base has developed significantly over the last few years so that is where I will spending most of my time, but I am also looking forward to re-establishing relationships with former clients and contacts from the full range of sectors in which I’ve previously worked.”
Caroline, who has a degree in Chinese and speaks Mandarin, began her career in the corporate/commercial department of Newcastle’s Dickinson Dees (now Womble Bond Dickinson) before her first move to Hong Kong to join the international law firm Slaughter and May.
Outside of work, Caroline is on the Board of Trustees of St. John’s Hospice in Lancaster and is currently working towards a PhD in Palliative Care at Lancaster University. She is a member of the Society for Computers and Law and the Charity Law Association.
