[T]his May two fundraisers will embark on a memorable cycle challenge across France as they cycle more than 870 miles in 14 days in aid of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw.
On Friday 18 May Mike and Debbie Williams will embark on an epic cycling challenge. Over the next two weeks the pair will cycle 876 miles from Ouistreham in north France to Nice on the Mediterranean coast in the south. The challenge will be special for Mike and Debbie as they raise money to help the care, support and activities provided by Eden Valley Hospice.
Debbie explained, “We have chosen to support Eden Valley Hospice because we have had friends and colleagues who have been cared for at the hospice and we know it to be a very worthy cause. I have also worked as a nurse at the hospice and have first hand experience of all the good work that they do.
“We fell into the challenge when a friend asked us to join her on this ride. We have completed several fundraising coast to coast rides in the past but are mainly fair weather leisure cyclists.”
During the 14 day challenge Debbie and Mike as part of a group of cyclists will pass through some of the landscapes that are included in the Tour de France. Most notably the challenge will take in the iconic Mont Ventoux and Gorge De Verdon on their route to Nice.
Debbie continued, “We’re looking forward to this challenge at the same time as the opportunity to explore the beautiful French countryside.”
The money raised by Debbie and Mike will help Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice to provide care, support and activities to local adults and children with life limiting illnesses. This care and compassion is extended to all the patients’ families, friends and carers.
