GLL staff at Penrith Leisure Centre all set to host the free Eden Health and Wellbeing Day next Wednesday.

[T]he Eden Health and Wellbeing Day is a collaborative free event organised by Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and GLL the local leisure provider.

The event is focusing its attention, on this occasion, on the services relevant to the over 55s but it is hoped that if successful the event will be come a regular occurrence throughout the year providing support and information across the age range

The event has been organised to showcase many of the health and leisure services available to the residents of Eden with over 30 separate services due to attend. Those attending will have the opportunity to see what services are available in their local area to support their health and wellbeing

The event is FREE and being held at Penrith Leisure centre on Wednesday the 16 May 2018 from 10am-3pm with the various services having dedicated stalls to offer advice, free samples as well as the opportunity to take part in:

  • Functional Fitness MOTs provided by Eden NHS physiotherapy Team
  • Information and advice by the NEW ESCAPE pain team – a new course designed to help you cope with pain associated with osteoarthritis
  • Free Taster sessions of some of the leisure centres most popular activities
  • As well as the opportunity to enjoy some Complimentary refreshments

Tanya Coates Eden Physiotherapy Clinical lead said: “The Eden Health and Wellbeing Day is an excellent opportunity to bring local services together, demonstrating what they are able to offer to the people of Eden. The day emphasises the key principles of Integrated Care Organisations (ICC’s) in terms of improved joint working and a greater awareness of the needs of our population.”

Lynn Almond – Cumbria Health Manager –  for GLL said: “We are really happy to be hosting this fantastic event. GLL and Eden District Council work closely with Cumbria partnership NHS Foundation Trust to promote services, and offer opportunities, to develop new ways of working which will improve the Health and Wellbeing of the residents of Eden. If successful we would like to host similar events and activities on a regular basis covering the full Life Course of our community.”
