[T]he Hare and Hounds in Levens, is launching a charity pizza in aid of a very worthy local cause: the Levens Playing Field committee.
Renowned for its hand-rolled-to-order pizzas, the Hare and Hounds had asked customers and nearby residents to nominate a worthy charity to help design a new pizza for the menu. For every pizza sold, £1 will be donated to the charity.
The Hare and Hounds team selected the Levens Playing Field committee from the nominees as an important community cause that helps to fund upkeep and buy new equipment for the local park. The Levens Playing Field committee has previously fundraised for the installment of a new roundabout and zip wire in the park, which were both installed by local residents in their free time.
The delicious new charity pizza will be topped with spiced Greek lamb, red peppers, tzatsiki and fresh coriander, and will go on sale on Wednesday 23rd May.
It will feature on the pub’s new summer menu alongside dishes including seared tuna steak with nicoise salad; grilled halloumi served with asparagus spears, piquillo peppers, artichoke hearts and salad with a fresh thyme, honey & balsamic dressing; as well as pork and damson sausages with black pudding mashed potato.
The Hare and Hounds has previously supported two local girl guides, Ellie and Gemma, in their missions to build a school in Nepal and help endangered sea cows in Belize.
Owner of the Hare and Hounds, Becky Dewar, said of their latest charity initiative: “It was a difficult decision for all the team with many deserving causes nominated, but we are thrilled to announce our support of the Levens Playing Field committee.
“We are proud to play a part in our community and we had such a fantastic response to Ellie and Gemma’s funds – we knew this was something we could do for more local charities.”
