[M]ayor Councillor Trish Vasey returned to her old primary school, St Margaret Mary Catholic Primary School, Currock on Thursday 17th May at 1.30pm.

The school, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, was delighted to be welcoming back Mayor Vasey and learnt much about the role and the  ceremonial sword and mace. The school, which is now part of the St Ninian Catholic Federation in Carlisle was reconfirmed as a good school by Ofsted in February 2018.

The Mayor had the opportunity to examine the school log book finding the names of many of her teachers and classmates. She was pleased to see a photograph of Canon Begley who was responsible for the building of the school 80 years ago. (see photo)

The Executive Headteacher, Chris Wilkins said: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor back to her former school and hope it brought back some fond memories of the school from years gone by.”
