[A] Carlisle man has been jailed for two years for domestic abuse offences.
Aaron Lee Wildey, aged 35, of Manor Place, was sentenced today (25th May) at Carlisle Crown Court for the following offences:
- Engage in coercive and controlling behaviour.
- Common assault.
- Disclosing private photographs with intent to cause distress.
He is also subject of a restraining order which prohibits him from contacting his victim for four years. Wildey admitted the offences at a hearing last month.
Detective Constable James O’Connor, North Crime and Safeguarding Team, said: “I am pleased that Wildey has been brought to justice for his crimes.
“Wildey subjected his victim to a prolonged abusive relationship making her feel worthless. There is simply no place for this in society and Wildey deserves time in prison.
“Even during their relationship he committed a revenge porn offence posting an intimate picture of his partner on social media.
“I would like to praise the victim for her bravery. What she was subjected to is traumatising and I hope that today’s sentencing can bring her some form of closure.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who is victim of domestic abuse to report what is happening to them. Victims will be listened to and their case will be thoroughly investigated.”
