Damien Hall

[T]his weekend a local man will be reaching the summits of the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales as he raises money to help the care, support and activities provided at Eden Valley Hospice.

On Sunday 3 June at 08.00am Damien Hall will begin his challenge to reach the peaks of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis. The challenge will be special for Damien as he raises money in memory of his much loved partner Anna Pike.

Damien, from Carlisle, explained, “The reason for supporting Eden Valley Hospice was may partner Anna had received exemplary care from the highly trained and extremely sympathetic nurses and consultants. Anna’s family and I were offered residence within the hospice, which allowed us to be close at all times with this truly amazing and much loved lady. I will forever be grateful for this”.

“The staff very kindly allowed Anna’s Chocolate Labrador Sadie to visit and on certain occasions stay overnight. This made Anna’s time there more bearable. Thank you to all the staff for allowing this”.

The challenge will see Damien complete a total distance of 23 miles walking along with a total ascent of 3,064 metres, plus over 460 miles of travelling between the peaks. The Three Peaks Challenge will provide Damien with unbeatable views of Scotland, England and Wales as he reaches the summit of the iconic mountains.

Damien continued, “A colleague of mine (Chris Wilson) completed the three peaks a couple of years earlier in aid of a local Crones disease charity.  I thought it wise to use his experience of mountain climbing and training regimes to assist in my plight to raise funds for Eden Valley Hospice”.

“I am really looking forward to seeing England, Scotland & Wales from their highest vantage points along with the stunning views I will encounter”.

“I am least looking forward to that moment when my legs say no more, but I know Anna will be there in spirit encouraging me every step of the way”.

The money raised by Damien as he reaches the peaks of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis will help Eden Valley Hospice to provide the highest standards of care, support and activities to local adults with life limiting illnesses. All the hospice’s care and compassion is extended to the patients’ family, friends and carers.

To date, Damien has raised more than £2,300 in memory of Anna for Eden Valley Hospice. If you would like to sponsor Damien please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/damien-hall-threepeaks
