People are being warned that there will disruption and reduced parking at Aspatria’s Queen Street car park.
Work is ongoing to build a larger Co-op pop-up store in the car park.
Cumberland Council said the work is likely to last for the rest of the week.
This temporary store will be in place while their current premises elsewhere in the town are closed for redevelopment.
The recycling banks will remain accessible throughout the duration of work.
The Co-op’s permanent store in the town on King Street closed on June 28 last year for redevelopment.
It said it had hoped it would open this month, but in January told Cumbria Crack it could not confirm a launch date.
The Co-op said: “As can often be the case with older buildings and complex construction programmes, requirements for additional works relating to structure and services to the property have been uncovered when work commenced.
“We are very sorry for the delay, and we’re currently working through these additional work with our contractors.”
It opened its first temporary store on Queen Street car park, stocking the basics, and in December was given planning permission for the new and larger temporary store, which is currently being built.
