Crown Decorating Centre donates paint to People First

[C]arlisle’s Crown Decorating Centre has donated a large quantity of paint and sundries to local charity People First as part of a project to refresh its new home in the city.

People First is an independent advocacy organisation that supports those with learning difficulties, mental health problems, homelessness, and dementia to make their voices heard. It was moving to new premises in the city, and the Carlisle Crown Decorating Centre donated matt paint, fillers, caulk, primers, eggshell and satin paints to help the not-for-profit organisation spruce up its new home.

David Blacklock, chief executive officer at People First Cumbria, said: “We are very happy with our new premises, and thanks to the generosity of the staff at the Carlisle Crown Decorating Centre, we were able to create a pleasant environment for our staff and those we support.

“As a not-for-profit organisation, donations like this are hugely beneficial, as we can now take the money we would have spent on the decorating materials and put it to great use advocating for people who benefit from our support.”

The Crown Decorating Centre, which is open to both the trade and public, is located on Shaddongate in the heart of the city centre and stocks an extensive range of paint products, tools and decorating sundries as well as a full colour tinting service.

Amanda Woodmass, Carlisle Crown Decorating Centre store manager commented: “We’re always keen to help charities and community groups in our local area where possible in whatever way we can. We were delighted to be able to offer our support to People First in the excellent work it does for the community. We’re looking forward to seeing its refreshed new base once the makeover is complete.”
