Plans for Cumbria’s first Taco Bell have been revealed.
An application has been submitted to Cumberland Council for advertising consent to install Taco Bell signage on the site of the former Pizza Hut, in Unit 5 at London Road Retail Park.
Pizza Hut has been closed since last October after operating at the site since 2004.
An initial proposed general site plan has revealed the restaurant would have space for 44 people to sit in as well as outside seating for 12 people.
The plans have been submitted by Beamish Planning Consultancy and seek to obtain consent for several proposed signs associated with the intended new commercial operator, Taco Bell.
This includes directly replace the existing Pizza Hut signage with illuminated roof mounted signs for Taco Bell.
It is also seeking consent for a two metre high and five metres wide vinyl mural that it wants to install on the north-west facing elevation of the building.
To the north-east facing elevation of the building, an internally illuminated purple arch is proposed immediately forward of the main
entrance and exit door, incorporating a bell logo.
An existing internally illuminated freestanding directional structure will remain, but will have its existing Pizza Hut branding replaced with Taco Bell branding.
The applicant said the proposed signage elements will be modest and proportionate in both size and appearance.
