[S]omething has been found buried beneath the school grounds… rumblings have been heard, gas smelt… the area’s been cordoned off with ticker tape and the government has sent its top scientific advisors to investigate…

For 8 days, from Fri 6 – Fri 13 July, pupils from Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, Appleby Grammar School and Kirkby Stephen, Orton, Tebay and Warcop Primary Schools will work together to create a new and devised piece of live performance. Rehearsals will take place at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School and culminate in three performances on 13 & 14 July, with pupils taking responsibility for the performance, backstage, publicity, catering and more.

Award winning theatre ensemble Tangled Feet will collaborate with local young people to create a unique, surprising and thrilling theatrical experience. With backstage support from Theatre by the Lake, Keswick and catering support from the Westmorland Family, Augill Castle and Ivy Cottage Bakery.

Vicki Woof, Project Manager for Kirkby Stephen Community Arts, said “I’m thrilled that local young people have the opportunity to work with such a range of talented professionals, from the visionary Westmorland Family to the inspirational Tangled Feet. It’s going to be amazing.”

KSCA are grateful for funding from The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust, The John Strutt Foundation, Westmorland Arts Trust and The Westmorland Family Cumbria Community Foundation Fund.
