[T]he Rev’d Nick Devenish, vicar of the Cartmel Priory, was installed last week as the County Chaplain for the County Priory Group (CPG) of the Order of St John in Cumbria.
The CPGs of the Order of St John operate in each county and act as representatives of the Priory of England and the Islands and the Order of St John, they are responsible for a number of functions such as processing internal and national honours and awards. CPGs also help to raise and maintain the profile of St John Ambulance in their district and raise funds for projects.
The County Chaplain is responsible for the pastoral care of St John Ambulance volunteers across the county.
The ceremony, held at Cartmel Priory was attended by Mrs Claire Hensman, Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, The Very Rev’d Nicholas Frayling, Dean of The Priory of England and The Islands of the Order of St John and Rev’d Richard Lee, Chairman of the CPG along with representatives of St John Ambulance.
