[A] MAN and woman have denied the alleged burglary of an Eden Valley mansion.
Joel Smith, 31, and 32-year-old Samantha Karen Waddle appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court in Carlisle earlier today (TUES).
Both Smith and Waddle are charged with the alleged burglary of Flass, Maulds Meaburn, and the theft of “items to the value of £100”.
Nobody was residing at the Grade II listed property at the time of the alleged break-in, on January 27 this year, the court heard. But it was stated the building had been left secured prior to the allege incident.
Smith and Waddle both pleaded not guilty to entering Flass as trespassers when the allegation was put to them by the court legal advisor.
They each elected trial by jury, and their case was sent to Carlisle Crown Court, where they are due to appear on August 31.
Until then both Smith, of Tweed Road, Redcar, and Waddle, of Redesdale Road, Sunderland, were granted unconditional bail.
