[P]olice are investigating an assault that occurred earlier this morning in Carlisle.
Police were contacted at 4.18am today (2nd August) with a report of a fight in progress on Charlotte Street, Carlisle.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “A 20-year-old male from Carlisle suffered serious facial injuries as a result of the altercation involving a group of males and one female.
“The injured male is currently receiving treatment at the Cumberland Infirmary.
“Investigative enquires are ongoing and a cordon is in place at Lidl car park.”
Officers would like to hear anyone who may have been in the area at the time or anyone who may have dashcam footage.
