Juliet McGrattan

As #ThisSummer draws to a close how about coming together to meet other Cumbrian Girls who Can?

Whether you are already active, in whatever shape or form, you are thinking about it, or you are looking for inspiration come along and meet other women and girls for a get together.

The Get Together will be a social evening including fun activities as well as hearing first-hand the inspirational story of Juliet McGrattan, who went from an inactive, tired and flabby mum of three to a marathon running health expert, who will help you discover your hidden potential to improve your own and other people’s health.

The event will take place at on the 26th September (National Fitness Day), 18:45 at the Oval, Salterbeck, Workington. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

This Girl Can is the nationwide campaign from Sport England to get women and girls moving, regardless of shape, size and ability. Cumbrian Girls Can is a local partnership to amplify the This Girl Can campaign locally.

Research has revealed that there is a huge difference in the number of men and women participating in sport – this is due to women and girls being afraid of judgement. Sport England responded to this by creating the ground-breaking This Girl Can campaign. It is the first campaign of its kind to feature women who sweat and jiggle as they exercise. It seeks to tell the real story of women who play sport by using images that are the complete opposite of the idealised and stylised images of women we are now used to seeing.

Cumbrian Girls Can are also holding a pre-event workshop on emotional resilience mindful techniques to alleviate stress between 6.15pm and 6.45pm. If you’re interested in this workshop, tickets are available on Eventbrite

Both events are free with thanks to the funding of Sellafield Ltd.

If you are involved in an activity and would like space/table for the networking session please email [email protected]
