The hottest weekend of the year is approaching as chilli enthusiasts from across the country gather at a south Cumbrian estate to celebrate the delights of the capsicum and organisers are excited to announce that the 5th annual event is the chosen location for the launch of the ‘World’s Hottest Pizza’.

Visitors to the Holker Chilli Fest at Holker Hall & Gardens in Cark-in-Cartmel, will be the first to try the pizza (which will eventually be available to buy) as this fiery creation – cooked up by Ged Fowler of The Chilli Pepper Company and Ian Robinson of Cartmel Cheeses – will be sampled at the Cartmel Cheese stand across the weekend.  Made using the Naga Viper, a Cumbrian grown chilli which was in the Guinness records as the hottest in the world, the pizza will also be reviewed by chilli aficionado, Darth Naga on the Friday before the Chilli Fest on his You Tube channel.

“We’re really pleased that Ged and Ian have chosen the Chilli Fest to launch the pizza – it will be great to see visitors try it for the first time.  I know they are keen to get feedback, so make sure you pop over to the Cartmel Cheeses stand and give it a try!” Jillian Rouse, Head of visitor services.

Set in the lively Courtyard and Piazza of the historic Holker Hall, visitors will discover specialist chilli growers and plants to take home, delicious food to devour and some good old family fun.  There will be a wide selection of stalls bursting with produce from handmade curries, spicy Italian street food and cooling handmade ice-cream, to gifts and accessories for the home and kitchen including oils, preserves and homewares!  If you have a sweet-tooth try the chilli chocolate or Spanish churros?  Visitors will be entertained across the whole weekend with live music and cookery demonstrations where you can pick up a few tips on how to incorporate chilli flavours into your home-cooking.

DON’T MISS: The chilli eating competition; watch the Scoviles soar as competitors battle it out to try some of the world’s hottest chillies – taking place at 4pm each day with, Darth Naga.
