Carlisle drug dealer who dragged dead man’s body from her home is jailed

A DRUGS peddler who dragged a dead friend’s body out of her Carlisle home to try and hide the fact she was dealing to others has been jailed.

The city’s crown court heard how Kevin Slater’s corpse was found outside Victoria Louise Blair’s Borland Avenue home on the evening of November 17 last year.

Attempts to revive Mr Slater failed. When police arrived – Blair having called paramedics – she falsely claimed she watched as others brought his body to her home and “dumped” him outside.

Hours later she confessed that 34-year-old Mr Slater instead died at her home, and that she had moved his body outside. Blair, who tried several times to revive her friend, was said to have “panicked” when she gave police the bogus account.

She admitted a charge of perverting the course of justice, intending to conceal the fact Mr Slater died at her home while she was supplying Xanax to others from that address. She was sentenced, separately, for conspiracy to supply that class C drug earlier this year.

There was no suggestion she had anything to do with Mr Slater’s death, the court heard. Blair, a 32-year-old mother, was described as being “extremely remorseful” for what happened.

Recorder Mark Ainsworth jailed her for eight months. “While Mr Slater was lying dead on the ground, your principle concern, as well as seeking treatment for him, was to try and protect what had been taking place in your house,” Recorder Ainsworth told her.
