The Lake District Calvert Trust is delighted that Cumbrian company Millican have chosen to support Calvert as their charity partner, to raise essential funds and awareness about the work of the Trust. Millican, who are based at Braithwaite, are celebrating their 10th Anniversary. As part of celebrating their success they have already donated £5,568.65 to the trust, raised through their Samples and Seconds Sales of Millican bags and accessories.

Co-Founder of Millican, Jorrit said: “As a local brand with active outdoor travel at its heart, we have always admired what the Calvert Trust offers to so many people – challenging disability through outdoor adventure. It’s a real privilege for us to donate all the proceeds of our Samples and Seconds Sale to the Calvert Trust – I guess another way of recycling unused items, and a very worthy one! A big thank you to everyone who participated in the event and made this all happen. We look forward to getting involved and supporting the Calvert Trust going forward as our charity of choice.”

The Lake District Calvert Trust, based on the shores of Lake Bassenthwaite, is a residential outdoor centre with over 40 years of experience in delivering challenging outdoor adventure holidays for people with disabilities. They offer exciting residential breaks for schools, groups, families and individuals with their friends and carers, which are accessible to people of all ages including those with the most complex needs for which most outdoor centres cannot cater.

Jennifer Scott, Fundraising Manager for the Lake District Calvert Trust commented: “It’s fantastic to have the support of locally based company Millican as their charity of choice. We are delighted with the enthusiasm of the lovely team at Millican and their appreciation of the benefits of the outdoor activities Calvert provides for people with disabilities. Our thanks to the staff and customers of Millican for their generous support: they have already raised an incredible £5,568.65!”

Charitable donations are essential to continue the specialist work of the Trust and support from local businesses such as Millican is vital in helping to raise funds and awareness.
