Father threatened to kill son during “ugly” Workington disturbance

Carlisle Crown Court

A FATHER who repeatedly threatened to kill his son during a disturbance in Workington has been sentenced by a judge.

Mark Little, 50, barged his way into a town house amid a family dispute spanning several hours on July 27.

His violent conduct prompted adult son, Mark junior, to flee the property from an upstairs window. Little also briefly produced a knife which he then tucked into the waistband of his trousers.

Carlisle Crown Court heard he yelled “I’m going to kill myself and take you with me”; and also “I’ve brought you into this world and I will take you with me” – threats his son was said to have believed.

Police body-cam footage captured angry exchanges between the two “intoxicated” men, while they were perched on adjacent low roofs at the back of the address, before the incident ended.

Little admitted affray and was sentenced by Judge James Adkin, who spoke of an “ugly incident with a knife produced”.

Little, of Solway Avenue, Flimby, had attempted to seek help for alcohol dependency, the court heard.

Judge Adkin imposed a 12-month community order comprising rehabilitation and an alcohol treatment requirement.”
